Does anyone know the current status of Windows Live OneCare and the Malicious Software Removal Tool in regards to Vista Beta 2 (Build 5384). Are there betas for these, or do the current products work?

OneCare and MSRT
The MSRTool is shipped with the Vista setup to get you a good start with the new OS, to try and remove some of the main viruses you might have on your machine. Windows Live OneCare is currently still in beta for XP SP2, and technically there are no plans to ship it to Vista as yet...
But they will :o) It'll be available for Vista around the time that Vista RTM's next year.

Well... it's out of beta now, but I wasn't to know about the program as I'm not working on OneCare - OneCare is a Redmond thing, the projects I'm working on in the UK are seperate, but still... :o)

Yes you are: "To thank its valuable beta customers and offer an easy transition to the paid service, Microsoft also announced today a promotional deal offering the first year of Windows OneCare Live service for $19.95 to beta customers who become subscribers between April 1 and April 30, 2006."
The product came out of beta from March 2006 , but was not made commercially available until June 2006, as noted above and in the link below. http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2006/feb06/02-07OneCarePricingPR.mspx -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

Not true. It went retail on June 1st. It was out of beta on or before 4/1/06, at which time it was available for download and subscription. Prior to that it was only available as a trial download. However, since the program will be regularly updated, it was in release and in beta at the same time. The beta testers will get new releases slightly ahead of general availability to make sure there is no showstopper. -steve
